UCD vs Shelbourne (26-7-13)
By Aidan Geraghty @1895Aidan
UCD welcome Shels to the Bowl on Friday night as a win for the away side
would take them off the bottom, regardless of other results; a task
that seemed impossible under previous manager Alan Mathews. Both sides
picked up a good result last week as the Students drew away to Shamrock
Rovers and the Reds beat Limerick 2-1 at home.
UCD were expected to struggle for goals after the departure of David
McMillan to the northwest but that has not been the case and they could
cause problems for Shelbourne whose first choice centre-half partnership
are suspended.
Their opponents from the Northside of the city have found a new lease of
life in their attack since the signing of Lee Murtagh and new
goalkeeper Lee Murphy has also been in terrific form. John McDonnell's
men are looking for three wins on the trot for the first time all
season. They're breathing down the neck of Bohs who also moved on from
an under performing manager last week.
