EA Sports Cup: Bohemians V Derry City - Preview

Three days after their league meeting, Bohemians take on Derry City in the quarter final of the EA Sports Cup at Dalymount Park.

A 2-1 victory for the Foylesiders should see them full of confidence as Declan Devine's men look to progress for the season's first chance of silverware.

It's likely the away side will make changes. Simon Madden picked up a dead leg injury after a battling performance on Friday night and is likely to miss out. Ruaidhri Higgins (ankle) and Rory Patterson (suspension) will also miss out on a vital clash while, Crawley and McCaffrey are both on the long term injury list.
Derry's new trio of signings (David McDaid, Eugene Ferry and Dean Jarvis) could play some part as they look to fight for starting positions.

Bohemians, after a battling performance will certainly take some positives in the manner of their defeat from Friday evening. Aaron Callaghan will be hoping that home form can slowly find a turning point with one eye on a tough looking league fixture against Limerick this coming Friday.
Owen Heary (hip) is still borderline and is expected to miss out. It's unsure what changes, if any, Callaghan will make for tonight's game. Players will certainly feel they can right a wrong and give the home fans something to cheer about.

Derry have already beaten Bohemians twice this season however, cup competitions are a nice break away from the league and the Northsider's will hope for a slice of fortune and a nice platform on which to build momentum to salvage a rather poor league showing thus far.

Derry are no pushovers and possess quality in all areas of the pitch and with a rather good tactician at the helm, the Candystripes will certainly make it difficult in what hopes to be a very enjoyable cup game.

Kick off at Dalymount Park is 7:45pm.

Referee: Paul McLaughlin

Prediction: Bohemians 1 - 3 Derry City (AET)

Betting: Bohemians 7/2 Draw 13/5 Derry 4/6
