Dundalk took all three points in Oriel as they beat a tough Bray side 1-0 thanks to a Kurtis Byrne strike.
The two sides started well with chances from each side early on, Bray had a chance from Kevin O'Connor heading wide from a Kieran Waters corner and then Dundalk going close from Brian Gartland heading just over the bar. Richie Towell went close with a neat chip but went just wide of Darren Quigleys post and O'Donnell near caught Quigley out with a quick free kick that went just wide.
Bray really should have made Dundalk pay before half time with Kieran Waters hitting the post and the cross bar on two occasions. The two sides went in at half time with things scoreless.
Two minutes into the second half Patrick Hoban sent Kurtis Byrne through with a nice through ball leaving him one on one with Quigley and despite Quigleys best efforts and getting a touch onto it Byrne's shot went firing into the empty net which put the Lilywhites 1 nil up.
Dundalk took good control of the game then and were looking to finish the game off but were unable to get a second. Bray had chances from Jason Byrne volleying wide and with Cherrie having to make some good saves from Byrne and Dempsey. Kieran Waters then cut in from Chris Shields and could have equalised for the away side but Cherrie came to Dundalks rescue.
Stephen O'Donnell came close to putting Dundalk 2-0 up but for Quigley making a great save. Dundalk held out for a vital three points to keep their title push on.
