Drogheda United vs Shelbourne (7-7-13)

By Aidan Geraghty (@1895Aidan)

Drogheda United and Shelbourne face each other at United Park this Sunday afternoon in the League of Ireland Premier Division. Kick-off on Boyneside is 3pm.

Both sides are coming off respectable midweek draws, as the Drogs held Swedish giants Malmö to a 0-0 draw at 'home' in the Europa League on Thursday while captain Glenn Cronin gave Shels a 1-1 draw against League One outfit Peterborough at Tolka Park.

It has been suggested that Mick Cooke may field a weaker side in order to preserve his players' energy levels for the second leg in Sweden next Thursday night. The former Monaghan manager even suggested that he'd like this game postponed in order to prioritise their European campaign.

The Reds, however, will be fully rested as they have a break of 9 days between their last competitive game and this meeting, they were beaten 2-0 by the champions, Sligo Rovers, last Friday week. As was previously mentioned, Johnny McDonnell's men played Peterborough United on Tuesday and will play Ipswich Town on Saturday (5pm kickoff) but first team players aren't expected to feature on Saturday.

TEAM NEWS
DROGHEDA UNITED
Injuries: Philly Hand, Eric Foley.
Suspensions: None.

SHELBOURNE

Prediction: This is Drogheda's third game this week but Shelbourne, without Dean Kelly and Philly Hughes, are toothless up front. 0-0 draw.
