Limerick host champions Sligo Rovers in Thomond Park for the quarter final of the EA Sports Cup on Monday July 1st. Sligo are entering the game after a 2-0 win over bottom of the table Shelbourne, Limerick also coming in after a thrilling win over Dundalk on Saturday.
Key Rovers players such as Lee Lynch and Evan McMillan got some game time against Shelbourne after coming back from injuries but it is unknown whether they will be risked to start the game. Danny North is almost fully fit again as he started the game but was substituted for McMillan in the 80th minute. Aaron Greene (foot), Danny Ventre (leg) and Raff Cretaro (hamstring) miss out. Anthony Elding is serving the final game of his 4 game ban and Joey Ndo will play after he received a knock on Friday.
Limerick haven't any fresh injury worries, Patrick Nzuzi who received an injury in training prior to the Dundalk clash isnt expected to play, Pat Purcell and Stephan McGann are both on the long term injury list.Stephan Bradley is back following a one match ban and Jeffery Judge is still on his suspension serving his second game out of three.
Both Sligo and Limerick have won 3 of their last 6 games, but Limerick with 2 losses and Sligo with the 1.
Prediction: I think it will be a very close game as the previous encounters have been extremely even, however with the form Sligo have been on recently and the 5-2 win over UCD the confidence will be sky high so I believe Sligo will sneak the win by 2-1 with North to get both goals.
