Long trip for Rovers as Salthill look to cause a shock

Second Round Tie of the FAI Ford Cup between Shamrock Rovers and Salthill Devon.

Article by Niamh Whelan

Shamrock Rovers and Salthill Devon are due to kick off the second round of the FAI Ford Cup this coming Friday at 7:45.
The sides will meet at Eamon Deacy Park to battle it out for a spot in the Third Round.

Having recently defeated Shels last weekend, Rovers are feeling confident but Rovers boss Trevor Croly knows that they'll have to fight for the win. "We have had Salthill watched and seen footage of them play and so know that they could be dangerous, and that was shown in them doing so well in EA Sports Cup against St Pat’s recently. We won’t be expecting to just go down there and pick up a win, but if we fully concentrate on the game, and play to our abilities, we should get it."

Salthill Coach John "Jumbo" Brennan is also eager for the win, but is more looking forward to the match as experience for his players. "It will be great to see Colin and the lads here tonight and we will make them work hard for the entire game. We are likely to make some changes ourselves tonight, as we need to give players a chance to play against good opposition - which will help in our league games."
Out of action for the Hoops are Mark Quigley, Pat Sullivan and Danny Ledwith still suffering from hamstring injuries. Lorcan Shannon is also out with a foot injury. Salthill will have to cope with the loss of Graham Kelly (suspended) and Derek O'Brien who is suffering with a knee injury.

Kick off is 7:45, Report to follow. Watch this space!
