Shelbourne v Bandon (FAI Cup Second Round) 31-5-13
Preview by Aidan Geraghty (@AidanGeraghty5_
Munster Senior
League First Division Runners-Up Bandon A.F.C. travel to Dublin to face
Shelbourne in the FAI Cup Second Round this Friday night. Kick off at
Tolka Park is 8pm.
While Johnny McDonnell's men are undoubtedly
the favourites, everybody is aware of Shels' struggles against
non-league opposition in the Cup in recent years. They lost 1-0 to
Crumlin United after a replay in 2009 and there is, of course, the
infamous Sheriff YC tie in 2011 where the Reds lost 3-2 in suspicious
circumstances before being reinstated because of Sheriff's fielding of
an ineligible player.
Bandon qualified for this round of the cup
after reaching the quarter finals of the FAI Intermediate Cup and
winning in the First Round of the FAI Senior Cup. Unfortunately, the
FAI's website doesn't contain every result from the First Round. Bandon
are sure to be on a high after becoming the first West Cork club to
reach the MSL Premier Division.
TEAM NEWS
Suspended: Jack Memery (additional red card suspension), Brian Shortall (4 yellow cards).
Injured: Glenn Cronin (ankle), Paul Crowley (hip).
Bandon AFC made no team news available.
Prediction:
Shelbourne should win this easily, but with their current form and
Bandon's pricing at 11s, the away side are definitely worth a punt.
BETTING (paddypower.com)
