Sligo Rovers V Bohemians - Match Preview

Raffaelle Cretaro, Aaron Greene and Anthony Elding were on the score sheet for Sligo the last time these two sides met back in March at Dalymount Park. It's Bohemians this time around who make the trip to the Showgrounds in what is a tough test for the North Dublin outfit.

Aaron Callaghan's men come into this game on the back of two very disappointing results. It's not the results that the Dalymount faithful are worried about, it's the manner of defeat and the amount of early conceded goals that are causing a bit of a murmur in some sections.

Sligo is always a tough place to visit but Bohs fans can have the slightest flicker of hope given Sligo's somewhat patchy run of form. The "bit o' red" have only managed to gather 2 points from their last three league games and a loss at home to Louth natives, Dundalk may spur on teams to play with no fear.

Having said that, Rovers are six games unbeaten against Bohemians in all competitions with five wins in that time. Bohs' last win in the Showgrounds came back in August of 2011 when the Gypsies secured a 2-1 after falling behind.

On the injury front, Sligo are without key men for the fixture. Lee Lynch (hamstring), former Bohemian defender, Evan McMillan (knee), Raffaele Cretaro (hamstring) and Danny Ventre (leg) are out and unlikely to return before the mid-season break.

Meanwhile Anthony Elding is currently serving a four match suspension.

Prolific striker Danny North is most likely to be included in the squad and may feature at some stage if fitness levels are to Ian Baraclough's liking.

It's mixed news for Bohemians however. The experienced head of Owen Heary is in contention to start after a hip injury has hampered him for much of this season. His words of wisdom might just be enough to settle the nerves of the youthful contingent.

There will also be late fitness tests for Luke Byrne, injured in training, and Keith Buckley, who came off in the last match with a hamstring strain. Andy Mulligan will be missing this weekend due to a family commitment.

Derek Pender is also out due to illness.

An interesting match in prospect at The Showgrounds and very much a "David Vs Goliath" scenario.

Blog prediction: Sligo 3-1 Bohemians
