FAI Cup 3rd Round Fixtures confirmed

3rd Round Fixtures announced with biggest surprise being that non league Bluebell have conceded home advantage to Derry City

The FAI has confirmed the dates and venues for the 3rd round fixtures of the FAI Ford Cup with Bluebell United conceding home advantage to cup holders Derry City in a surprise revelation.

It is unknown why this is the case but some people have speculated that Bluebell have set their sights on a 'pad day' by moving the match to the Brandywell rather than staging it in their own Capco Park home; the game will take place on Friday 23rd August with a 7:45pm kick-off, with the replay scheduled to take also place at the Brandywell on Tuesday August 27th with a 7:45pm kick-off.

The other seven fixtures will also take place on the same weekend with just the two games taken place on Saturday 24th.

Longford Town welcome Premier Division Drogheda United to the City Calling Stadium with a 7:30pm kick-off, whilst Cork City make the trip to the Showgrounds to take on Sligo Rovers with a 7:45pm kick-off.

Replay dates have also been set for seven of the eight fixtures with the odd one out being Shelbourne's tie with College Corinthians yet to be confirmed, however the original tie will take place at Tolka Park on Friday 23rd August with an 8pm kick-off.
